The homeschooling family we visited near Ashville.

All You Ever Wanted to Know
(And Didn't Want to Know)

 ABOUT ME

Home Schooling Hosts

    Ashville and on home

Some of the wonderful home schooling families that hosted my kids and I.

After leaving the Raleigh area we headed west, towards Ashville, North Carolina. We had arranged to stay with another family and then we were going to head straight north through the Smokey Mountains.Family near Ashville.

This family lived high up in the mountains. They have 6 children of their own and are also foster parents. It was so beautiful and peaceful up on the mountain. Of course, I haven't been there in the winter, when maybe the roads are impassable, but if a person stocks up ahead it shouldn't matter.

Ashville family with my son and myself. The larger view also shows my red car.Anyway, in the picture on the left, that's my son in the left rear and me with the white shirt and dark hair. One of my girls was taking the picture.

Its just them in the picture on the right, the dad had already gone in to work.

It was an amazing coincidence but one of their friends was the midwifeMy midwife who is now living near Ashville. I had when we lived in Raleigh.  She had moved to the area a few years earlier. So they called her up for me and we got to say hello. There is always a connection between a woman and her midwife, at least there is for me. So I am throwing in a picture of her, at Serena's birth.

So then we headed back home, to Northwest Ohio, going through the Smokey Mountains Park. We drove into the park but many roads were closed due to some heavy rains a month earlier when some of the roads were washed away. That didn't stop us from stopping at various places where cars were allowed.

Here's the kids at the bottom (left) and then the top of a hill (right) at one of the scenic stops. I think just the two older ones climbed up the hill, with Serena staying down below with me.

You can see cameras on Eric and Serena, while Anna is hanging on to her bag of chips. So there were lots of pictures taken of mountains and hills since we are from flat flat Northwestern Ohio.

Here's some of them.

View of the Smokeys in the distance. Another view of the Smokey's. More Smokey's. A pretty river we had to take a picture of.

Here are all the pages with pictures &
stories of other stays with home schoolers.

When we home schooled and had to travel across the country, we were hosted by other home schooling families. Here are pictures and the stories of the different families, on our different trips. These were all great people who opened their homes to us. It was much more fun and educational than staying in motels. Thank you to all of you!

These are somewhat better looking pages, with more information too.

If you want to go to other pages in this series you can click on any of these.  Most of these were made quickly, just to show my "artistry" (or lack of) in photography. Some are just fun pictures to look at. Below this series are many of my better pages, with both photos and stories about the people, places or things they are taken of.
