My Pets - Our Turtles.
Here's three of our favorite turtles. Over the years we had a lot of turtles. Ma, Pa, Cuddles, Hurricane, Forest, Bridgey, Swifty, Bridgey 2, Paul (who was bi-sexual) Archy, Honey, Moon and maybe another.
My kids always liked them and were taught how to handle them carefully. You have to avoid the top of their heads. There is no protection for their brains on the top. On the right, Anna is kissing Ma turtle, with her dad helping.
The pictures are mostly chronological, but the earliest pictures of our turtles are missing. The photo album with them and my son when he was very young was stolen by the kids' dad. So these start with Anna as a baby. Then Serena joined the family and she got to know and love the turtles too. See one on her belly?
My kids were always comfortable around the turtles even when
they were sitting on their head.
My mother on the other hand, and her dog,
Lacey, were unsure of whether or not they trusted them.
The turtles were really smart and had personalities of their own. Usually the males were frisky with the females and one of the males, Pa, shown above in all four pictures, also like to climb the screen door.
Here is another page with more pictures, its for mature
audiences only.
It shows the turtles actually in the middle
of "procreating" and you may not want to go to this page.
Here's another pair of them, starting to get "romantic". The male would bite at the female's shell to get her interested. I don't know, why, but it seemed to work most of the time. The female in this picture was Bridgy and the male's name was Moon.
We had several types of turtles, and actually they are land tortoises, not water turtles, but this kind is referred to as a turtle.
Its very difficult to get fertilized eggs, and even more
so to get them to stay alive until they hatch. But after years of having
turtles, one year, in 1985, one hatched. It was so cute! My
then husband was holding it in his hand as it hatched. We were just
getting ready to move to North Carolina and the baby wouldn't eat. We had to
take it along with us and try to feed it with an eye dropper, but it died soon
after we got there. We found a nice road side rest and buried it next to a
tree. But before it died, it would walk around the little cage we made for
it. That's the baby, standing in the water dish.
If you want to go to other pages in this series you can click on any of these. Most of these were made quickly, just to show my "artistry" (or lack of) in photography. Some are just fun pictures to look at. Below this series are many of my better pages, with both photos and stories about the people, places or things they are taken of.
Choose whatever may interest you. (or go back to whatever page you came from)
I'll include my list of all my "regular" web pages at the top of each page so if you get tired of hearing all about me, you can escape to some place else. But for now, here are some more personal pages...
These are somewhat better looking pages, with more information too.

Hey, when I said "All about me," I really meant it!
