         Places I've Visited: Part I

             Going towards the East Coast 

 Boston, 1993

Philly 1992

I went to Philadelphia in 1992 as part of a honeymoon trip. (Now we're divorced) My husband is a Quaker and wanted to go there to see Quaker and other historical sights. One thing we didn't try, but it would have been fun, was to go for a horse and carriage ride. Here is a picture of the many ones we saw.

We saw the United States Mint in the main part of town. (on the right) There were lots of statues and historical markers too. There were also plenty of Quaker sights and towards the outside of town there was a museum associated with a local university. I have lots more pictures of Philly on another site, dedicated just to that nice little town. The statue on the left is from the B'Nai B'Rith group. You can read what it says if you click on the picture to get the larger view of it.

We took a ferry to go on to Atlantic City. I was kind of scared but went ahead. I found myself standing or sitting near the life boat most of the time. It was also very windy and cold. Plus I found myself getting a bit sea sick too.

Atlantic City 1992

	The beach in Atlantic City. It was a cool day and not many people were out.
Up above is a picture of a young man waiting for someone to hire him to ride in his rickshaw. These went up and down the boardwalk. My husband (ex now) and I had to hurry to catch our bus that would take us back to our hotel, about an hour away and we should have ridden in one of these. Our motel took us there free and gave everyone a half roll of quarters to entice us to use the slots.	Here I am standing in front of the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. It was one of the casinos that is placed near the beach. I didn't do any betting but did walk through a couple of them and ate there too at a smorgasbord.

Let me show you some of the South East 1993

Maybe an hour's drive, outside of Raleigh. We went to a home schoolers week end gathering there. Here's a whole page about the weekend.	A beautiful place for other meetings. This is where my son went to a NCACS conference. There is a page just about that if you want to go to it.
