A view of downtown Austin,
taken by the riverbanks.
Sorry, its
from a postcard.
And of course, a sample of the Texas Bluebonnet flower!
I moved there for a brief but wonderful time in 1994. For more pictures about this beautiful city go to my web page about it.

This was taken up on a hill overlooking the dam on the Colorado river. Its not the same river that goes thru the Grand Canyon. It forms Lake Travis. | Bluebonnets grow everywhere in the spring, here by a highway. You see so many of them that after a while it seems strange to not see them. | People use the river just about every day of the year. There are lots of boaters and in some places people swim in the river. |
There is an artist community about an hour's drive from Austin. A friend of mine drove my girls and myself there and we spent a couple of hours browsing the stores and taking pictures. We were parked near a horse hitching post and there was actually a horse there.
A friend who is an artist, had a studio there. There are lots of studios, lots of art, ranging from canvases, to beautiful T Shirts. Serena is standing on a street with various shops on the right, and a restaurant on the left.
Just outside of Wimberley there is a hill with steps carved into it. I can't remember the story, something about ancient Indians used to use the hill for something. I have several pictures of this on another web page too. This one is a view of the steps going up.
Ever hear of Corpus Christe? Its a frequent destination of college students on Spring Break. We went there at a different time and stayed in a hotel that had a kitchenette and a little sitting room. The porch was the best part though, the view was nice and the sea gulls had learned to come up to the porches to beg for food. Our room had bunk beds for my girls and a separate bedroom for my husband and myself. The sitting room also had a sofa that could open up for two more people if needed.
The view from our room looked out to the Gulf of Mexico.
One disadvantage to going off season was it was a bit cool and dreary. We went to the beach but it was too cold to go swimming although the girls did take off their shoes and wade in the water.
Here are the girls walking in an empty lot. You can barely make out the building behind them in the haze. That's the Gulf of Mexico just beyond them, with some of the beach visible.
We also went to Selena's grave, the Tejano singer and have pics of her grave.
Now, for one more area of Texas, about 100 miles south of Austin
In 1984 I went to a small town north of Austin to visit a friend of mine (and to think about my marriage) and while there we went to her sister's house about 100 miles south of Austin. They had a ranch with free roaming long horn cattle and a large wooded area. It was a different kind of wood than what you see in Ohio. The trees were short and thick. Her sister also had wild turkey that lived there. Since it was Thanksgiving, there were less live turkeys after we ate.

I'll include my list of all my "regular" web pages at the top of each page so if you get tired of hearing all about me, you can escape to some place else. But for now, here are some more personal pages...
These are somewhat better looking pages, with more information too.
If you want to go to other pages in this series you can click on any of these. Most of these were made quickly, just to show my "artistry" (or lack of) in photography. Some are just fun pictures to look at. Below this series are many of my better pages, with both photos and stories about the people, places or things they are taken of.
Hey, when I said "All about me," I really meant it!
